Camping Flinders Island

Allports campsite Flinders Island is located app. 20 kilometres north of Whitemark, near the small settlement of Emita and close to Wybalena Chapel and Lillies Bay Campground. The camping area Allports Settlement Point is located adjacent to a beautiful beach, and near the start of the Castle Rock Walk, being one of Tasmania’s 60 Great Short Walks. The camping location is signposted off Palana Road near the small town of Emita. It is recommended that you carry your own firewood and drinking water – there are toilets at the nearby day visitors area, and also a barbecue, shelter and picnic table. The Allports campsite is about approximately 100 metres from the beach, turn left up a rough track prior to reaching the day-use area. Allport Beach is beautiful, being around 150 metres long, slightly curving, north-facing and relatively steep. It is bordered by dune-capped granite points, with some boulders outcropping along the eastern end of the beach. The Allports Road runs down the backing slopes to a small reserve with a car park, picnic area and toilets at the eastern end of the beach. This is the main Emita swimming beach. You can’t make a booking to camp at Allports Campground, and there are no fees. All camping is on a first-come, first-served basis – you can try and check availability with the Flinders Island Parks and Wildlife Service by calling (03) 6359 2217. The camping area has room for approximately 10 campervans or cars and is suitable for tents and campervans. See Camping Itinerary Flinders Island – Camping Flinders Island
