Golf Flinders Island

Flinders Island doesn’t have the same reputation for golf as its Furneaux Island cousin King Island. There is only one course on Flinders Island, being located just a few kilometres out of Whitemark and offering a challenging layout. It has as its backdrop, Mt Strzelecki, and is close to the sea on the Western side of the island so is subject to strong winds on a regular basis. Known as the Flinders Island Sports & RSL Club, the club features a scenic 9 hole links-style course, synthetic bowls green, licensed bar, and restaurant. The Flinders Island Sports & RSL Club is set on 67 acres at the edge of the ocean. The Par 71, 5319-metre course has only been parred once in the 50-year history of the club. A synthetic grass bowls green was recently installed and hosts weekly games, including community bowls and special bowls events. Visitors are welcome – there is a fully licensed bar and restaurant serving a range of Tasmanian and Flinders Island produce. The course is truly spectacular and offers beautiful scenery and views as you try to master this challenging layout. If you wish to have a game while on the island, contact the club – they can arrange club hire at times when the club isn’t open. See: Golf Flinders Island
